ANKARA – On the 283rd day of the protest called, “We want our jobs back”, the police attacked the protesters again, the protesters responded to the police by shouting the slogan, “Long live our hunger strike resistance”.
The hunger strike launched by Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who were removed from their posts by an emergency decree and have been held at Sincan Prison’s Campus Hospital where they were taken by force, has entered in the 163rd day and the protest “We want our jobs back” has entered in the 283rd day.
The protesters, who wanted to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument encircled with barriers by police at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue, gathered at Konur Street. Police closed the the street entrance with shields and they didn’t allow the protester to enter. Thereupon, the protesters wanted to make the statement in front of the shields and they unfurled the banners reading, “Release Nazife Onay”, “Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and they shouted the slogans, “Long live our hunger strike resistance”. The police attacked the protesters and dragged them on the ground until the end of the Konur Street.
While the protesters responded to the police attacks by shouting slogans, they said they would continue their protest.
