Attack on Yüksel again: 3 women detained

ANKARA – Police attacked the people gathering at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue to support Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça again. Cemile Karakaş, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Fatma were taken into custody by police during the attack.

Support actions to Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who are on hunger strike for 132 days and held in Sincan Prison, continue. On the 252nd day of “We want our job back” protest, the laborers gathered at Ankara’s Konur Street both to support Nuriye and Semih and to demand their rights. Police attacked the group wanting to make a press statement in front of Human Rights Monument.

The police attacked the public laborers unfurling a banner reading, “On the 132nd day of hunger strike, Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and detained Cemile Karakaş, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Fatma (her surname unknown yet).
