ANKARA – Police battered and detained three people at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue on the 245th day of the action “I want my job back”.
While the hunger strike launched by academic Nuriye Gülmen and teacher Semih Özakça, who were dismissed by a statutory decree, has entered in the 125th day, the action started at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue has entered in the 245th day.
Dismissed public laborers wanted to issue a press statement in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Avenue by carrying a banner reading, “Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated”; however, police didn’t allowed them. Police attacked the laborers and detained them by dragging them on the ground. The protesters reached to the detention and shouted the slogangs, “Nuriye and Semih aren’t alone” and “We are laborers, we are right, we will win”.
Police have detained public laborers Akman Şimşek, Erdoğan Canpolat and Engin Karataş.
