Hunger strikes launched in prisons ended: We’ll resist more if the pressures continue

NEWS CENTER- Political prisoners have ended the hunger strikes on the call issued by the KCK. Deniz Kaya made the statement on behalf of the prisoners, “We’ll resist with greater actions if the pressures continue,” said Deniz.

Upon the KCK’s call, the PKK (Kurdistan Worker’s Party) and PAJK (Kurdistan Women’s Liberation Party, Partiya Azadiya Jin a Kurdistan) prisoners have ended the hunger strikes launched by demanding an end to the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, an end to the ongoing rights violations in prisons and the siege on Kurdish cities. Deniz Kaya made a written statement on behalf of the PAJK prisoners regarding the end of the hunger strikes.

The written statement is as follows;

“The fascist practices that emerged as the result of the fascist politics of the AKP government are deepened with the alliance of MHP, and the brink of democracy and freedom are wanted to destroy. Both the political genocidal operations and the aggravated isolation imposed on our Leader and right violations in the prisons have gradually increased. As PKK and PAJK prisoners, we come from the resistance line and tradition of the people like Kemal, Sema and Sara. We never accept surrender and fascist practices and we will never accept. The PKK’s resistance tradition continues in the prisons today like before. The AKP-MHP fascist alliance should know that; we are the revolutionaries, who are on their way to victory by resisting for our leadership and our people.

We are ending our indefinite and non-alternate hunger strike in all prisons, which is on day 64 in Şakran, upon the call of KCK Co-Presidency on April 18, 2017. We salute all our jailed comrades who took part in this action of resistance, and we reiterate our debt of gratitude to our people. We salute all our people, democratic circles and everyone that acted with sensitivity and supported our resistance. We state hereby that we will continue our resistance with greater actions in the event that the AKP-MHP dirty alliance continues its isolation on our Leader, the political genocide operations against our people and rights violations in prisons.”
