Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı dies at 77

ISTANBUL – Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı, one of the founders of social psychology and professor of psychology, died at age 77.

Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı, one of the founders of social psychology and one of the important names of international psychology, passed away. Academy of Sciences reported the death of Çiğdem and said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı, the member of the Academy of Sciences.”

Born in 1940, Istanbul, Çiğdem Kağıtçıbaşı graduated from Robert College in 1959 and then earned undergraduate degree in psychology from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and graduated in 1961. She completed her PhD in the field of social psychology at Berkeley University in California. Çiğdem is today’s one of the most important psychologists and academicians with more than 1,200 references.
