Call from DTK to KDP for Shengal

DİYARBAKIR – Democratic Society Congress (DTK) called for immediate cessation of the attacks on Shengal and pointed out that the attacks began just after Masoud Barzani’s visit to Turkey.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) issued a written statement on attacks of the KDP forces on Shengal. In the statement, it is underlined that the attacks on gains of the Kurdish people increased day by day and it is said, “Following the attacks of the AKP-MHP fascist government against Rojava, today the attacks on Shengal by the KDP show the massacres carried out against the Kurdish people once more. We vehemently condemn the attacks of the KDP on Shengal liberated by the resistance and self-power of the Êzidî people, in particular while the Kurdish National Unity is being discussed intensively.”

‘Respect the decisions of the Êzidî people’

In the statement, it is underlined that the attacks on Shengal began just after Masoud Barzani’s visit to Turkey and his meetings with President Recep Tayip Erdoğan and Prime Ministry Binali Yıldırım; “As DTK, issuing a call to the KDP is essential on this basis. We are in need of reminder that you (refer to the KDP) encourage the enemies of the Kurdish people with your unfortunate statements on Rojava and by turning a blind eye to the AKP fascist government while our cities in Bakurê Kurdistan were razed to the ground. We want you to act with the Kurdish people against the occupying forces that have occupied Kurdistan before it is too late and as a preliminary step, we demand you to stop the attacks on Shengal immediately and respect the decisions of the Êzidî people.”
