6 journalists’ testimony to be taken today

ISTANBUL – Testimony procedures of six journalists detained on December 25 will start today.

The closed Dicle News Agency (DİHA) News Director Ömer Çelik, DİHA reporter Metin Yoksu,  former Diken Editor Tunca Öğreten, Birgün daily worker Mahir Kanat, Etkin News Agency (ETHA) Managing Editor Derya Okatan, Yolculuk Newspaper Editor in Chief Eray Saygın have been held in Organized Crime Control Branch of Police Headquarters since December 25.

Today, police called the lawyers of the journalists and reported them testimony procedures would start. Gülhan Kaya, one lawyer of the Law Office of the Oppressed (Ezilenlerin Hukuk Bürosu) said, “The police’s testimony procedure of Derya Okatan will start today. But we haven’t known yet when prosecution’s testimony procedure will be taken.”
