BALIKESİR- 11 families members, who visited their relatives imprisoned in Bandıra Prison, applied to the Human Rights Association (İHD) by stating that the prisoners are face torture and oppression.
11 families members, who visited their relatives imprisoned in Bandıra Prison, held a press conference in Diyarbakır İHD Branch in order to announce the violation of rights prisoners face to the public opinion. 11 families said they didn’t allow seeing their relatives with the excuse disorders in the system and they faced maltreatment, oppression and threats.
Fatma Gobikoğlu, sister of Mehmet Dağ, who has been in the prison for 26 years, said they went to the prison on October 18 to see her brother and her brother and other prisoners were tortured. Fatma noted that strip-search was imposed on the prisoners and the prisoners were beat for refusing strip-search.
Fatma, who expressed that strip-search is a dishonorable practice, said the clothes hadn’t been given to the prisoners and the prisoners had been banned from taking new underwear. Fatma also said she had sent letters to his brother; however, her letters hadn’t been given to her brother. Fatma expressed that her brother and other prisoners looked like very weak and hot water hadn’t been supply to the prisoners and the prisoners suffered from cold.
İHD Diyarbakır Branch President Raci Bilici said the applications were made and they would be given to competent authorities. Raci noted that the prisoners face torture, exile and isolation.
