Co-chairs: We will never surrender to violence

ANKARA- Talking about the racist attack on the HDP buildings, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Ankara Provincial Co-chair Birsen Kaya emphasized that the violence will not surrender and HDP Yenimahalle District Co-chair Mahabad Akın said, “We paid a lot for bringing peace and now we got nothing to lose. We continue our struggle to the end.”

On the heels of bomb attack in Kayseri, attacks were launched on the HDP provincial and district building in many cities. Racist groups attacked the party’s buildings in Bağcılar, Beylikdüzü and Üsküdar districts of Istanbul, Yenimahalle district of Ankara, Darıca district of Kocaeli, Bornova district of Izmir and the party’s provincial and district buildings in Erzincan and Çanakkale.

HDP Ankara Provincial Co-chair Birsen Kaya talked about the attacks and said, “June 7 corresponds to a one hundred year in the history of this country. The election result on June 7 is the peace declaration of the society and the peoples in Turkey. However, this was misunderstood by the ruling power. They (refer to ruling party) declared that they wanted war and violence by not recognizing the election on June 7.” Birsen reminded the June 5, 2015 Diyarbakır and July 20, 2015 Suruç massacres and stated that the state imprisoned the society by resorting to all kinds of violence with ISIS and counter forces. Birsen emphasized that the problem would not be solved by arresting co-chairs, co-mayors and MPs and said that, “As Peoples’ Democratic Party, we never back down from asking peace against war, equality and freedom. We know that peace will get a grip on this country. Blood is not the destiny of this country. These can be changed. We will continue to ask peace against all forms of atrocity and methods of fascism. The peoples of Turkey should come together and design their destiny by uniting on the political line of the People’s Democratic Party. We will never surrender to violence.”
HDP Yenimahalle District Co-chair Mahabad Akın reminded that the war process in Kurdistan and cities of Turkey after June 7 election and stated that the state authorities dragged the country into chaos by saying, “Presidential system or chaos”. Mahabad said their Yenimahalle district building was subjected to attack after the bomb attack in Kayseri and continued, “We paid a lot for bringing peace and now we got nothing to lose. We continue our struggle to the end. We have no alternative.”
